Objectives of the Downtown Association
- To work with the City and Association members on physical improvements and general maintenance of our area.
- To promote the Downtown as a great, economically-viable place to operate a business.
- To represent and lobby on behalf of member businesses on issues which affect the downtown business climate.
Our strategies
The Board of Directors held a series of ‘brain-storming' seassions in the fall of 2007 to identify specific strategic priorities. These strategies are identified below along with the corresponding vision statement in italics:
1.) Expand association boundaries (more than a main street...)
2.) More people need to be living/working downtown (a 24/7 neighbourhood)
3.) Development of a ‘mercato' (a marketplace shopping experience)
These strategies are where the Downtown Association is currently focussing its efforts.
